Fate is the development of events beyond our control. It means that no matter how you act or what you do, you will always end up at the same outcome. When you search for the definitions, both are tied to a hidden or higher power and suggest that we have no say in the matter - they are uncontrollable.
Predicting Your Future Timeline
If you've ever received a psychic reading that predicted the future, you may have questioned the validity of a practice that suggests a certain fate. You might have asked yourself, if my future is already predetermined, does it even matter what I do? Do I even have free will? How can they possibly coexist?
Psychics predict the future by tapping into the current timeline or path you're on based on your current energy. The tricky thing about predicting the future is that it is always changing. Actually, we are jumping into a new timeline every single second. For example, you could wake up tomorrow morning and (uncharacteristically) decide to quit your job and move to Brazil. By making a decision from free will to deviate completely from your current timeline, you have dramatically changed the course of your future.
Earth School Curriculum
Before our soul decided to come to this earth school, we chose a certain theme(s) to experience in this lifetime. You can understand more about your theme by looking at the challenges that keep popping up in your life. Some souls choose an "easy mode" life, maybe because their past life was tough and filled with trauma. Others pick "hard mode," dealing with things like addiction. It's important to look at this through a different lens. When first hearing this perspective we think with our analytical mind, asking, "Why on earth would I ever chose pain and suffering?". However, when you were choosing your theme, you had full faith that you would meet that challenge with flying colors because you existed in a pure loving state. It is only through the lens of our physical body that we view these "challenges" as "bad" when at one time, we viewed them through the lens of excitement and not "good" or "bad."
Going back to the example—because you chose a certain theme for your life on earth, you will still meet some of the same fates in Brazil as you would have on your previous timeline. That doesn't necessarily mean that you will meet the exact same people or experience the exact same events, but you may experience a different variation of them that matches the new frequency you decided to experience. This means that free will can peacefully coexist with destiny. The themes may be predetermined, but our free will stays intact throughout our experience. Free will is actually a law of the universe, and ALL beings must abide by it. With free will, we decide how we react, act, and what we interact with. Ultimately, we can choose how we co-create with the Universe to experience our overarching themes.
Our Life's Purpose
Our purpose on earth is to experience life through a different perspective. As consciousness, we are the Universe experiencing itself. That's why you hear many spiritual teachers say, "we are all one." They say this because we are all made up of God Consciousness, and it is only with this 3D life that we get the chance to experience the illusion of "separation." I mention this to dive into our individual purpose here on earth.
Think about your life's theme when considering your purpose. If your theme is to experience unconditional love, you might create this by having a child who teaches you to care deeply for another being. In my experience, Spiritual teachings rarely define a soul's purpose by a specific job. Viewing your purpose through your theme allows for more creativity and exploration of what feels fulfilling. For example, it might be a theme of yours to remember your own power. Maybe this can be expressed in this life by starting your own business, no matter what limiting beliefs others try to impose on you.
The "Destiny" Trap
Many people fall into the trap of believing that a pre-destined purpose will solve all their problems. They imagine a singular path, like being passionate about farming, revealed at a specific age. While this might be true for some, it's limiting to think there's only one right path. It implies that we only have one destined right path, and if we deviate from it in any way, then we are going down the wrong path. It also implies that we have one right path and infinite wrong paths! In reality, there are infinite right paths and timelines, each offering different experiences and growth opportunities that are in alignment with your life's theme.
Conclusion
So, enjoy the balance between destiny and free will. Recognize the themes guiding your life, but use your free will to navigate and co-create your journey. By doing so, you honor both the predetermined aspects of your existence and the boundless potential of your choices.
